Polk found the end zone on the ground twice in the second quarter on runs of two and six yards to give the Mustangs a 20-3 lead at intermission.
ASU tailback Daniel Thomas sparked the Rams on the opening drive of the third quarter with a 64-yard touchdown scamper to slice the lead back to 20-9 after a missed extra point, however, Midwestern State posted 17 straight points before the end of the frame to pull away for the victory.
Thomas added the Rams' final touchdown of the night with a one-yard plunge with 13:14 left in the contest. He ended the night with 166 yards on 23 carries and a pair of scores. This marks the third time in four games that he has rushed for more than 100 yards.
