GRANBURY –
Three out of four Angelo State players dropped at least one stroke from their opening-round totals Monday, which led to a five-shot improvement and a 12th-place finish at the Doc Housewright Invitational Tuesday. The Rambelles shot 334-329 – 653 (+77) on the par-72, 5,790 yard course at Harbor Lakes Country Club.

Krista Czarnecki, Maury McCormick and Randee Stegman each bested their first day scores with McCormick showing the biggest improvement, shaving three strokes off her first 18 holes carding an 82. Czarnecki turned in a final-round score of 79, cutting two strokes from Monday's performance. The sophomore carded a two-day total of 160 (81-79), which was tops among the Rambelles and tied for 25th overall. Stegman had a one-shot improvement, firing an 85 for the day and Courtney Rutledge shot an 83, but was second on the team with a 165 total behind Czarnecki.

“We keep planning to get better,” Angelo State head coach Kathleen Price said. “We had some nice birdies and some good up and downs (Tuesday). The girls continued to keep working hard and doing what it takes to improve.”

Host Tarleton State won the tournament title with a 592 score beating Grand Canyon University (612) and St. Edwards University (619). Tarleton's Carla Cooper (74-68—142) took medalist honors, while teammate Katy Ward (77-70—147) finished runner-up.
The Rambelles will finish their season with a trip to the Lone Star Conference Championships with the first round beginning on Sunday, April 18, in San Antonio.

“We're looking forward to conference on Sunday.” Price said.
