Women’s Golf Claims Fourth Place at St. Mary’s Invite

Final Round Combo

SAN ANTONIO –
The Angelo State women's golf team fired a final round total of 330 (+42) in the final round of the Lady Rattler Round on Tuesday. The Belles wrapped up the 11-team tournament with a fourth place finish and a two-day score of 653 at the par-72, 5,830-yard course at Dominion Country Club.

Maury McCormick was the top golfer for the Rambelles as she fired a 78-80 – 158 for the tournament and finished in eighth place. Fellow junior Krista Czarnecki carded a seven-over 79 to shoot the best final round totals for ASU.

“We had a really nice round from Krista, who had a nice bounce-back round from (Monday) which was nice to see,” Belles coach Kathleen Price said. “She had a beautiful birdie on No. 17, where she made a 12-foot putt.

“She was really solid going out, shooting a 38 on the front so I think this was a good round for her to remind herself she's a good player.”

McCormick earned her first top-ten finish of the season as the San Angelo native was only eight strokes off from first place.

“Maury played some solid golf,” Price said.

Abby Bobo shot a two-round total of 166 (+22) to join McCormick and individual Ashley Bartholomew (81-86 – 167) in the top-25. Courtney Rutledge and Taylor Griffin also finished in the top-30 after their final round scores of 169 and 172 respectively.

Makenzie Stone rounded had a six shot turnaround on Tuesday and was 43rd as the sophomore competed as an individual.

St. Edward's took home the team title after shooting 618 (+50) in the 36-hole tournament. Tarleton State's Jessica Pickwick won medalist honors after firing a one-over 73 on Tuesday edging out St. Edwards' Wallis Spears by one stroke.

The Rambelles also finished ahead of Lone Star Conference foes Texas A&M-Commerce (8th), Incarnate Word (9th) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (11th).

The Rambelles will return back on the course next week at St. Edwards for its invitational at the Grey Rock Country Club.
