SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rams track & field team has started the season on a high note as they are No. 3 in the United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings announced today.
The Rams are aided by returners
Nick Smith,
Isidro Garcia,
Jacob McDonald,
Guy Henry,
Shane Holmes and
Austin Slone as well as newcomers
Sean Reagan,
Stormy Smothers and
Patrick Hunter.
McDonald is No. 2 in NCAA Division II javelin with his mark of 215'-7” (65.73m) and Smothers is No. 3 in the decathlon. The men's 4x400m relay is also high on the NCAA Division II list. The relay of
Brendon West, Garcia,
Robbie Thayer and Smith are No. 2 with its time of 3:11.09.
All-American Slone will have this weekend to improve on his triple jump mark this season and teammate Hunter is after a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the long jump at the Texas Relays.
