The 85th Annual Texas Relays on Tap for Track & Field

Competition begins on Thursday

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track and field teams are off to the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held in Austin, Texas, with competition beginning on Thursday.

The Rams and Rambelles will send a total of 18 student-athletes to compete at the Texas Relays.

The men's sprint medley relay will be one event that is slightly out of the ordinary that the Rams will run. Dallas Gray, Nick Smith, Brendon West and Isidro Garcia are scheduled to run the relay on Friday. It consists of two 200m's followed by a 400m leg and anchored by an 800m.

The Rams will have the No. 2 ranked NCAA Division II javelin throw, Jacob McDonald, competing in the javelin 'B' section on Thursday. Kimberly Williams will be throwing in the women's 'B' section of the javelin. She sits at No. 12 in NCAA Division II.

A group of 400m hurdles will compete on Thursday. The Rambelles have Theresa Sue and Lexi Brooks entered in the women's race. Sue set a personal-best time of 1:01.78 and hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark. Jeffery Jones will run the 400m hurdles for the Rams.

Sue is also entered in the 100m hurdles and long jump. Cathryn Rittenberry will run the 100m hurdles on Friday.

Kati Holly is set to compete in the women's high jump. She is currently ranked at No. 8 in NCAA Division II with her clearance of 5'-6” (1.68m)

Patrick Hunter and Austin Slone are entered in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Both Hunter and Slone have hit NCAA Division II provisional marks in triple jump and Hunter will try to add long jump to that list this weekend.

Both the men's 4x100m relay and 4x400m relays will run as well as the women's 4x400m relay. The Rams 4x400m relay team sits at No. 2 in NCAA Division II with its time of 3:11.09.
