Rams End Spring Practice with Spring Game

Dakarai Pecikonis led the Rams with 156 yards receiving and two touchdowns

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Blake Hamblin hit C.J. Akins on a 60-yard pass to lift the offense over the defense, 64-56, in the Angelo State Spring Game held at San Angelo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hamblin threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns and was the leading rusher on the ground with 57 yards. Dakarai Pecikonis was the leading receiver with five catches for 156 yard and two touchdowns. His touchdowns came on catches of 75 yards and 34 yards.

The defense took a 31-16 lead into the half as it forced the offense into six change of possessions. Daymond Lewis and Jared Ross both were able to pick off the offense as the Rams forced four turnovers on the day.

Blake Smith scored on touchdown runs of two and 13 yards. Jeremy Johnson led the team with seven tackles.

Jarred Martin had a perfect day as he hit five PAT's and two field goals on the day.

The Rams will open the 2012 season on Saturday, September 1 at 2 p.m. against Western State.
