SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rams track team wrapped up the final day of the Texas Relays held in Austin with one of the fastest times ran this season in NCAA Division II in the 4x400-meter relay.
“We got four really solid marks from this weekend,” head coach
James Reid said. “The marks we earned this weekend could get us into the NCAA Division II Championships. I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish and it gives us a big confidence booster going into our home meet.”
The 4x400-meter relay was able to showcase its talent in a very loaded field at the Texas Relays. The invitational heat included Olympic gold medalist in the 400-meter, Jeremy Wariner.
The hype didn't stop the relay of
Brendon West,
Dallas Gray,
Robbie Thayer and
Isidro Garcia ran the fastest time in NCAA Division II currently with a 3:09.30. It was the fourth-fastest time in that heat and would have finished in second in the 4x400-meter relay in the college division. It is the second NCAA Division II provisional mark in as many weeks.
The 4x100-meter relay of Gray, Thayer,
Nick Smith and
Guy Henry finished with a 41.50 to place sixth in the college division.
Jeffrey Jones ran 56.04 in the final of the men's 400-meter hurdles college division. He was the ninth to cross the line.
The Rams and Rambelles will now host the Angelo State/David Noble Relays with multi competition beginning on Tuesday.
