SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State's Chrystal Ruiz missed making the 400-meter final at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Mankato, Minn., by .09 of a second on Friday afternoon.
 
Ruiz ran a 56.78 the first heat of the 400-meter and placed second in the heat. She was then forced to sit and wait for the three other heats. The final heat was the fastest of the day as all four made the final and knocked Ruiz out by just .09 of a second. The final qualifier, Quanera Hayes, ran 56.69 to take the final spot.
 
The six-time All-American will start her second event of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at 9 a.m. with the women's pentathlon. She is also entered women's high jump at 1:45 p.m. Live results can be found at www.ncaa.com.
