ASU Baseball Moves Up to No. 8 in Collegiate Baseball Poll

ANGELO STATE BASEBALL

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State has moved up one spot to No. 8 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll after sweeping Eastern New Mexico in a four-game series at Foster Field. The Rams, who were unranked at the start of the season, have now been in the top-10 for six straight weeks and have been ranked as high as No. 4 this season.

ASU (27-10, 11-5 LSC) will host No. 2 St. Mary's at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a rematch of an early season game in San Antonio where the Rams took a 6-5 win on a Brett David top of the ninth inning run batted in. The Rattlers were the nation's top ranked team last week, but dropped one spot after going 3-1 against Texas-Permian Basin. The Rams are 11-5 all-time against St. Mary's and are 17-2 at Foster Field this season.

The Rams, who have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 245-151, are ranked No. 17 by College Baseball Lineup, No. 19 by D2BaseballNews.com and No. 14 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

After playing St. Mary's (Heartland Conference), the Rams return to LSC play this weekend with a four-game series at Tarleton State (14-13, 7-6 LSC). The Texans came into Foster Field last season and swept the conference series by a combined score of 40-12. ASU leads the all-time series 22-7 over TSU.
