Rambelles 2012 Fall Schedule
SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's golf team released its 2012 fall schedule as announced by head coach Kathleen Price. The Rambelles will play in four events including hosting their first tournament in three years.
“Our fall schedule should provide us with quality tournaments and the opportunity to continue to work on being competitive,” Price said. “I anticipate that our experience should help us this season and I am anxious to see how we fare against some regionally ranked teams.”
The Rambelles will begin the 2012 fall slate with the Lady Buff Stampede (Sept. 9-11) at the Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo. The following week, Angelo State will host the Concho River Classic (Sept. 16-18) at Bentwood Country Club. It will be the Rambelles first home tournament since winning the ASU Make-Up in 2009.
“We are excited to host a tournament this year,” Price said. “We have a strong field entered and are anxious to have an opportunity for the San Angelo community to watch us play.
“It is so tough to get onto the schedule because of so many existing tournaments. We are thankful to have a date in place and bring teams into San Angelo for years to come.”
Angelo State will wrap-up the remaining portion of its fall schedule in the state of Oklahoma where the Rambelles will tee-off in the University of Central Oklahoma Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 2) at the Lincoln Park golf course in Oklahoma City.
After nearly a month-long break, the Rambelles will close out the fall campaign in the Cameron University Tournament (Oct. 21-23) at the Fort Sill golf course in Lawton, Okla.
Angelo State returns seven letter winners from last year's team including the top five that played at the Lone Star Conference Championships. The Rambelles finished tied for fourth and were five strokes off from a medalist standing at the tournament.
Incoming freshman Elizabeth Chavarria will also look to crack the Belles' rotation as the only newcomer to the team.
“This group of players learned so much from last year,” Price said. “I anticipate that the experience gained from tournament competition and tough practices will benefit us this season.
“We will take what we learned last year and improve. I am excited about our upcoming season.”
