Hammond Earns LSC's Offensive Player of the Week Honor

Bryan Hammond
SAN ANGELO – Bryan Hammond has been named the Lone Star Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after a pair of great performances against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Incarnate Word.

Hammond scored 17 points in an 81-67 win over the Javelinas on Wednesday before pouring in a career-high 26 points in a loss to Incarnate Word on Saturday in San Antonio. The junior guard is averaging 9.8 points per game for the season and has led the Rams in scoring the past four games. His mentality to attack the basket has translated into getting to the free-throw line where he has shined. He made 13 free throws against the Javelinas and 10 against the Cardinals.

Hammond, a New Orleans, La., native and transfer from Nicholls State this season, is the first Rams to earn the conference's offensive award and the second Rams to be honored this season. Ryan Marsh was named the LSC's Defensive Player of the Week after a six-block performance against Lubbock Christian the first week of the season. Hammond is the first Angelo State player to earn the offensive award since Ridge McKeither was named the LSC South Division's Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 10, 2011.

The Rams return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Abilene Christian at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
