SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State men's basketball team announced its 2017-2018 schedule on Wednesday, complete with 15 home games and a pair of tournaments in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
"We are excited about this season's schedule as it features 15 home games, which is the most games we've had since the 2014-15 season," Angelo State head men's basketball coach Cinco Boone said. "We are also thankful to former ASU Head Coach and current Texas Tech Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Beard for giving us the opportunity to play a Big 12 Conference opponent in United Supermarkets Arena in an exhibition game. Our student-athletes always look forward to playing Division I foes and it will be great to play in front of west Texas fans who root for both ASU and TTU."
As a part of the 15 home dates this season, ASU will be hosting two tournaments. On November 17th and 18th, the Rams will host St. Edward's, Arlington Baptist and Paul Quinn as a part of the fourth annual Ed Messbarger Classic.
The Rams will host another tournament at the end of November on the 24th and 25th, as Texas A&M-Commerce, Lubbock Christian and Central Baptist College travel to San Angelo for the ASU Thanksgiving Classic.
"We are glad to be hosting back-to-back weekend classic tournaments in the month of November, which includes the fourth Annual Ed Messbarger Classic," Boone stated. "We feel like our non-conference opponents will help prepare us for the rigors of Lone Star Conference play."
ASU will kick off LSC play on the road this season, facing Texas A&M-Kingsville on November 28 in Kingsville, Texas. Their conference home opener will be against Midwestern State on December 7. Â Â
