Tyler made his career under the basket, leading the Rams in rebounding all four years while earning Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 1980. By the end of his junior season, he had already surpassed the rebounding record for ASU and needed only 241 points to become ASU’s all-time scorer at the time, a milestone he would accomplish. Currently, Tyler still holds the career rebounding record with 852 rebounds while he ranks second in career points with 1,426. He also ranks second in career double-doubles, tallying 18 overall, including eight during his freshman season.
