The Angelo State volleyball team (3-9, 1-0) opened up Lone Star Conference play with a 3-1 win over Southeastern Oklahoma (4-7, 0-2) in Durant, Okla. Saturday afternoon by scores of 30-22, 28-30, 30-26 and 30-19.
The win by the Rambelles ends a 10-match LSC road losing streak dating back to 2005. ASU was led by Adrienne Taylor with a career-high 17 kills. Brittany McNeal led all attackers with a .481 hitting percentage, connecting on 15 of 27 attempts.
Two other Rambelles finished the match in double figures in kills. Cristina Doris had 14 kills and a .312 hitting percentage and Alaina Sivells had 13 kills and a .286 hitting percentage. Tess Brindock collected a match-high 53 assists and Sivells ended the match with 5 total blocks while Natalie Crow recorded a match-high 27 digs.
The Savage Storm were led by Destiny Brown who had a match-high 18 kills. Lindsay Ellisor, last weeks LSC Setter of the Week, dished out 40 assists and Laura Bienmueller led SOSU with 19 digs.
The Rambelles are off until Thursday when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville. The opening serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
