Angelo State head soccer coach Tom Brown has announced the addition of Midland native Elyssa Hawkins to the Rambelle soccer roster for the 2008 season.
The senior midfielder for Midland High School signed her letter of intent on Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs are currently 14-4 on the season and Hawkins is leading the team with six assists.
"I am excited to sign Elyssa to our soccer team," Brown said. "She is very skillful and uses her body well to protect the ball. I like her passing ability and her ability to put forwards in position to score goals."
Hawkins, a three-year varsity starter, was selected to all-district second team as a junior as the Lady Bulldogs lost in the second round of the playoffs. As a sophomore, Hawkins led Midland to the 3-5A district title and a birth in the Region 1 semi-finals.
Hawkins will report to the Rambelles for fall training in the first full week of August. ASU will begin the season Labor Day weekend in St. Joseph's, Mo., in a tournament hosted by Missouri Western State.
