Lacy Joins ASU Football Staff

Angelo State head football coach Dale Carr has announced that Brandon Lacy will join the Rams football staff as an assistant coach, working with the defensive line.

Lacy comes to ASU after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Rice University, coaching defensive linemen. In his first year with the Owls, he helped guide the squad to its first bowl appearance in 45 years, earning selection to the New Orleans Bowl in 2006.  Lacy was later selected to coach the South defensive line in the 2007 Intra-Juice North South All Star Game held in Houston.

Prior to his two seasons at Rice, Lacy served as the defensive line coach at Ferrum College in the spring of 2006. Before that he spent one year at the University of Tennessee at Martin were he coached the running backs and assisted with special teams. Lacy started his coaching career with a two-year stint at Appalachian State University from 2003-05. He coached defensive ends during the 2003 season and safeties in 2004.

A two-year starter at defensive end at Tennessee-Martin, Lacy earned a total of six conference player of the week honors. He transferred to Kansas University and was a two-year letterman as well as a earning back-to-back Academic All-Big XII honors. He graduated from Kansas in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in economic and a minor in business and educational coaching.

A native of Edmond, Okla., Lacy played defensive end and tight end at Santa Fe High School, earning honorable mention All-State honors for a team that went 11-2 and reached the state semifinals.
