2012 Angelo State Volleyball Schedule
The Angelo State volleyball team is scheduled to play 29 regular-season matches this season, including 10 Lone Star Conference and one non-conference match at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center in 2012.
The road schedule includes non-conference matches in San Antonio, Austin and Denver, Colo. The Belles open their home and LSC schedule on Sept. 14 against Cameron. That match begins the first of two four-game home stands during the season (Midwestern State, Sept. 15; Tarleton State, Sept. 18; and McMurry, Sept. 21). ASU's second four-game home stand comes in mid-October with games against Abilene Christian (Oct. 19), Incarnate Word (Oct. 23), West Texas A&M (Oct. 26) and Eastern New Mexico (Oct. 27).
ASU will finish its regular season with a four-game road trip before the LSC Volleyball Championship (Nov. 15-17) which will be hosted by the regular-season champion.
The Belles, who are coming off a 31-6 season where they advanced to the NCAA DII postseason for the first time since 1992, will begin the 2012 campaign with two games on the last day of August and two on the first day of September in non-conference matches.
The 2011 Belles were 17-3 in LSC matches last season and 13-1 in home matches.

Lone Star Conference Schedule Breakdown
ASU vs. Abilene Christian
Angelo State holds a 56-30 all-time advantage over the Wildcats, including taking two of three matches played last season. ASU knocked the ACU out of the LSC tournament last season with a 3-1 win. The Belles will make their first non-conference road trip on Saturday, Sept. 22 to play ACU in Abilene before hosting the Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. The Wildcats finished third in the conference (14-6 LSC) last season and with a 21-14 overall record.
ASU vs. Cameron
Angelo State holds a 20-11 all-time advantage over the Aggies, including sweeping them in both matches last season. ASU will host CU in their first home of the season and then travel to Lawton, Okla. on Saturday, Oct. 13 to play a 2 p.m. match. The Aggies finished sixth in the conference last season (9-11 LSC) and with a 15-15 overall record.
ASU vs. Eastern New Mexico
Angelo State holds a 36-19 all-time advantage over the Zias, including picking up two sweeps last season. The Belles will travel to Portales, N.M. on Friday, Sept. 28 for the only out-of-state conference match before hosting ENMU on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Junell Center. The Belles

ASU vs. Incarnate Word
Angelo State holds an 11-5 all-time advantage over the Cardinals, including picking up two wins last season. The Belles were forced to a five-set victory in San Antonio before taking a 3-1 win on the ASU campus in 2011. Incarnate Word last beat ASU on Sept. 8, 2007 in a 3-2 match in San Antonio. The Belles will host UIW on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Junell Center. The match will be ASU's annual Dig Pink Match. ASU will then travel to San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 2 for a 7 p.m. match which will start a four-game road trip that will conclude the regular season. The Cardinals finished ninth in the conference standings last season (6-14 LSC) and with a 12-18 overall record.
ASU vs. Midwestern State
Angelo State holds a 23-9 all-time advantage over the Mustangs, including beating them three times last season. The Belles earned a 3-1 win in Wichita Falls in their first meeting of the 2011 season before taking a 3-0 win at the Junell Center in early November before sweeping MSU in the LSC tournament. ASU will host Midwestern State on Saturday, Sept. 15 in their first matchup of the 2012 season before making the trip to the Mustangs' home gym on Oct. 12. The Mustangs finished eighth in the conference (7-13 LSC) last season and with a 15-16 overall record.
ASU vs. Tarleton State
Angelo State holds a 30-10 all-time advantage over the TexAnns, including topping them in both matches played last season. The Belles will host TSU on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the first match between the two schools before traveling to Stephenville to play on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The TexAnns finished fourth in the conference last season (13-7 LSC) and with a 20-14 overall record.
ASU vs. Texas A&M-Commerce
Angelo State holds a 35-19 all-time advantage over the Lions, including taking two wins last season. The Belles hosts TAMUC on Saturday, Oct. 6 before making the trip to Commerce on Friday, Nov. 9. The Lions finished 11th in the conference standings (6-14 LSC) last season and with an 11-17 overall record.
ASU vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville
Angelo State holds a 49-10 all-time advantage over the Javelinas, including picking up two wins last season. The Belles will host TAMUK on Tuesday, Sept. 25 before making the southern road trip to Kingsville on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Belles were forced to a five-set match last season in their contest in Kingsville. The Javelinas finished seventh overall in the conference standings (7-13 LSC) and with a 15-15 overall record.
ASU vs. Texas Woman's
Angelo State holds a 27-11 all-time advantage over the Pioneers, including two 3-1 wins last season. The Belles will host TWU on Friday, Oct. 5 before traveling to Denton on Saturday, Nov. 10 for the regular-season finale. The Pioneers finished fifth in the conference standings (11-9 LSC) last season and with a 13-17 overall record.
ASU vs. West Texas A&M
West Texas A&M holds a 49-15 all-time advantage over the Belles, including three wins last season. The final win came in the LSC tournament's championship match which extends the WTAMU winning streak over ASU to 12. The Belles leas topped the Lady Buffs in a 3-0 win on Oct. 2, 2004 – which was Kathleen Brasfield's final season as head coach. ASU will look to break that streak in a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Canyon following a Friday night game at ENMU. The Belles will host WTAMU on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Junell Center. ASU lost 3-2 (25-13, 12-25, 16-25, 25-22, 7-15) in the last match played between the two schools in San Angelo. WT won the regular season (19-1) and conference tournament titles last season and finished with a 34-3 overall record.
Non-conference Schedule Breakdown
The Rattler-Hilltopper Classic, which is a round-robin tournament, will see ASU open the season against
Southeastern Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at St. Mary's University's Greehey Arena in San Antonio. The Belles are 11-2 all-time against SEO and last played them in 2010 against conference opponents. This match will be a non-conference affair after SEO departed the LSC after the 2010 season. The Belles will follow that match with a contest against
St. Mary's at 7 p.m. ASU is 19-13 all-time against the Lady Rattlers with the two schools last playing in 2010.
A quick drive north on IH-35 will pit the Belles against
Southwestern Oklahoma and
St. Edward's University on Saturday, Sept. 1. ASU and Southwestern Oklahoma will play at 1 p.m. in the first match played between the schools since 2009. ASU holds the all-time advantage at 4-1. The non-conference rivalry between ASU and St. Edward's leans in the Belles' advantage at 15-9 with ASU knocking the Hilltoppers out of the NCAA DII South Central regional last season. The Belles also beat SEU 3-0 at the Junell Center on Sept. 9, 2011.
The Belles' only out-of-state regular-season matches will take them to Denver to play in the Colorado Premier Challenge from Sept. 7-8. ASU will play four matches in the tournament, starting against
Cal-State Bernadino at noon on Sept. 7 and against
Regis at 3:30 p.m. This will be the first time the Belles have ever played CSU-Bernadino and the fourth against Regis. ASU trails Regis 3-1 in the all-time series that will be renewed for the first time since 1995.
ASU's final non-conference match of the regular season will come against
McMurry at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20. The Belles lead the all-time series 7-0 with the last match being played in 1980.
