On the men's side Stormy Smothers was second overall in teh decathlon at the ASU Spring Break Multi-Event with a NCAA Division II provisional score of 6,818 points. He ran the fastest 1500m of the day at 4:25.14 but was unable to overtake Parker Petty from Abilene Christian. Smothers scored big in the 110m hurdles running a 15.87 while throwing the discus 118'-5” (36.10m). He cleared 13'-11” (4.24m) in the pole vault and got a mark of 142'-11” (43.56m) in the javelin.
