St. Edward's Headed to Houston

Kristen Lozano's bases-clearing double with one out in the sixth inning sparked St. Edward's to a 4-1 win over Southeastern Oklahoma in the championship game of the 2008 NCAA DII South Central Regional Tournament at the ASU Softball Complex in San Angelo.

Southeastern Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Rachel Sill and rode the arm of Marjorie Johnson who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning against the Hilltoppers for the second straight day.  St. Edward's used a single by Melissa McSheffery to open the sixth followed by two walks to set up Lozano's double down the rightfield line.

Diana Cezeaux (24-8) picked up the win a she tossed the final 2.1 innings for the Hilltoppers in relief of starter Robin Becker. Cezeaux gave up one hit and had two strike outs as she picked up her third win of the tournament. Becker gave up one earned run on three hits in 4.2 innings of work.  Lozano, the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, went 1-for-3 with a run scored with three RBI while the Hilltoppers will go into the NCAA DII World Series with a 51-15 record.

Johnson (27-5) gave up four earned runs on two hits in a complete game. She retired 11 batters via the strike outs while allowing four walks. Southeastern Oklahoma closes out the season with a 53-12 record.
