Zilverberg's Walk-Off Sparks St. Edward's

Jamie Zilverberg belted a three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead No. 4 seeded St. Edward's to a 3-1 win over fourth-seeded Abilene Christian in the third game at the 2008 NCAA DII South Central Regional Tournament at the ASU Softball Complex in San Angelo.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Kristen Lozano began the frame with a single up middle followed up by a walk drawn by Karen Varteressian. After a sacrifice bunt and a shallow fly out to centerfield, Zilverberg stepped up for her second home run of the season.

Robin Becker (25-7) picked up the victory as he tosed the final two innings for the Hilltoppers. Becker had one strike out and gave up just two hits in her short outing. Diana Cezeaux pitched the first five innings for St. Edward's giving up one earned run on four hits while fanning five Wildcats. St. Edward's imroved to 46-14 and will play either Angelo State or Fort Lewis at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jacque Gregoire (6-5) was handed the loss as she gave up three earned runs on six hits with four strike outs. ACU fell to 32-26 and will play the loser of the ASU/Fort Lewis game at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
