Sanchez Boosts SOSU to 3-2 Win

Benita Sanchez' two-out single in the top of the seventh inning propelled Southeastern Oklahoma to a 3-2 victory over Midwestern State an into the winner's bracket final in game seven of the 2008 NCAA DII South Central Regional Tournament at the ASU Softball Complex in San Angelo.

Midwestern State took a 2-0 lead with a run in each the first and the fourth inning before the Savage Storm would cut the lead in half, 2-1, in the top of the fifth inning with a single by Jennifer Morales.  In the seventh, MSU pitcher Katie Petersen hit back-to-back Savage Storm batters setting up Sanchez' single with the bases loaded.

Marjorie Johnson (27-3) picked up th ewin as she gave up two earned runs on three hits with seven strike outs in a complete game. Sanchez ended the game 1-for-4 with two RBI while Rachel Sill went 2-for-3 from the plate. The Savage Storm improved to 52-10 and will now play the winner of the Angelo State/St. Edward's game on Friday at 4 p.m.

For MSU, Petersen (26-9) gave up three earned runs on five hits with two strike outs in seven inning of work. The Mustangs (36-27) will play Abilene Christian at 11 a.m. Friday morning in an elimination game.
