Angelo State baseball players Trey Carter and Jeremy Tietze were named to the Wyoming squad for the first Mountain Collegiate League All-Star game held on July 8.
The game was held in Laramie, Wyo., and pitted members from the two Wyoming teams, the Laramie Colts and the Cheyenne Grizzlies, against all-stars from the two Colorado programs, the Fort Collins Foxes and the Greeley Grays. Carter's and Tietze's squad fell to the Colorado squad, 4-2.
Carter, ASU's starting catcher, and Tietze, who completed his second season as a Ram starter in 2008, were two of 12 members of the Laramie Colts to receive a spot on the all-star squad. Carter also participated in the Home Run Derby which was held before the game.
The Mountain Collegiate Baseball League is a wooden-bat summer baseball league that features some of the top collegiate players in the country. Players eligible to participate must attend a junior or senior college, receive written permission from the university they attend and have eligibility remaining in accordance with NCAA regulations.
