The Angelo State volleyball team picked up its third win
in four matches as 'Belles downed Central Oklahoma in four games Saturday
afternoon. ASU downed the Bronchos, 25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-19, even its record
at 12-12 and improve to 4-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
Senior Alaina Sivells led three 'Belles in double-digit kills as ACU upended
the Bronchos for the first time since 1993. Sivells had a match-high 17 kills
while freshman Caroline Cleveland had 13 kills and freshman Chelsea Gibson
added 10 kills in the victory. Wits ASU sporting its 6-2 offense for just the
second match of the season, freshman Alex Woolsey had 29 assists and junior
Alex Allard had 21 assists. Senior Kimber Duncan had a match-high 15 digs while
Cleveland had a "double-double", adding 12 digs.
The 'Belles hit .252 for the match, compared to just .181 by UCO. After holding
off the Bronchos in the opening set, Angelo State torched the Bronchos, 25-15,
in the second game as the 'Belles hit .462 in the set. ASU had 16 kills in the
second set alone with just four errors.
UCO (11-13, 3-4 LSC) got 12 kills from Zuela Adom while Kristen Wilson added 10
kills. Setter Meaghan Wedberg had a match-high 33 assists and Ginger Gowen led
the Bronchos with nine digs.
The 'Belles take a break from LSC play Tuesday as they visit Texas-Permian
Basin. First serve is 7 p.m. in Odessa.
