'Belles swept by UTPB

The Angelo State volleyball team (12-13) took its last break from Lone Star Conference play Tuesday night and was handed a three-game loss at Texas-Permian Basin. The 'Belles fell to UTPB 25-21, 25-23, 26-24, in Odessa.

Senior Alaina Sivells had a match-high 13 kills but it wasn't enough as the 'Belles hit just .142 as a team against the Falcons. Freshman Chelsea Gibson had eight kills and freshman Caroline Cleveland added six kills. Senior Kimber Duncan recorded a team-best 18 digs while Cleveland had 13 digs. Freshman setter Alex Woolsey had 22 assists while junior Alex Allard added 14 assists.

UTPB (12-16) got nine kills from Alex Genung while Danae Eckart had a match-high 22 digs for the Falcons.

The 'Belles return to LSC play and return home Thursday night as they host Cameron in their "Dig Pink" match. ASU will be wearing commemorative pink uniforms against Cameron. These uniforms, along with Thursday's game balls, are being auctioned off at www.asuvolleyball.com. Match time is 7 p.m. at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
