In the final of the three preseason rankings, the Angelo State baseball team has been ranked 10th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 25 released Monday.
The Rams appeared in all three national polls this preseason, earning a No. 21 pick by Collegiate Baseball and a No. 16 nod by Ping! Baseball. ASU posted a 45-20 overall record in 2009, finishing in second place in the Lone Star Conference with a 31-13 league mark. The Rams were runner up at the LSC Tournament and advanced to the semifinals of the 2009 NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
ASU is one of two teams from the LSC in the NCBWA Top 25. The Rams are joined by Abilene Christian at No. 18. Regional-foe Emporia State is atop the poll.
The Rams opens the 2010 campaign this weekend when they host Ouachita Baptist in a four-game series. The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader both Saturday and Sunday.
