For just the third time in school history, the Angelo State men's basketball team (13-8) held an opponent to fewer than 40 points as the Rams downed Arlington Baptist, 92-39, Saturday night.

LaMarshall Corbett scored the first bucket just 15 seconds into the game and the Rams never looked back as they secured their most lopsided victory in seven seasons. Senior
Johnny Barnes scored a game-high 18 points as all nine Rams who suited up scored.
It took less than three minutes before the Rams, ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region, led by double digits, taking a 12-2 advantage with 17:20 left in the first half after a pair of free throws by senior
Trey Mays. ASU would shoot 56 percent (20-of-36) from the field over the first 20 minutes as they grabbed a 47-20 halftime lead.
The Rams took their first 30-point lead not two minutes into the second half as Corbett gave ASU a 53-22 lead after a pair of free throws with 18:44 remaining. Corbett's free shots would spark what would become a 21-9 run over the next 12 minutes.
Barnes ended the night 9-of-9 from the field and added eight rebounds and three blocks for the Rams. Corbett had 16 points and sophomore
Joey Lenox added a career-high 13 points. Senior

Chris Ellis each had nine points each. Williams led the Rams with five assists. ASU shot 49 percent (35-of-71) for the night, hitting 7-of-20 shots (35%) from three-point range, and shot 60 percent (15-of-25) from the free-throw line. The Rams held a slight advantage in rebounds, 41-39.
On just two previous occasions have the Rams held an opponent under 40 points. ASU limited Dallas Christian to just 38 points during the 2000-01 season, and held Sul Ross State to 39 points in the 1966-67 season. The 53-point margin of victory was the most by the Rams since a 107-52 win over Hillsdale Freewill Baptist during the 2002-03 campaign.
For Arlington Baptist (1-17), Antione Thompson and Aric Stroop each had a team-best seven points while Kevin Clark and Anthony Stevenson added six points each. Thompson also led the Patriots with eight rebounds. ABC shot 25% (12-of-49) from the field, hitting 2-of-10 shots (20%) from three-point range, and shot 72 percent (13-of-18) from the free-throw line.
The Rams return to action Wednesday night when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
