Chelsea Nelson has been recognized as the Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
Nelson, a native of Highland Village, posted a 2-0 record and collected a save over the weekend as she helped spark the No. 19-ranked Rambelles to a 5-0 start to the season. The Marcus High School product tossed 16.2 innings and fanned 13 hitters in her three appearances.
In her 2010 debut, Nelson held LSC North preseason favorite Midwestern State to just two hits while fanning seven Mustangs in a 5-2 win Friday. Nelson then tossed a 2-0 shutout over Southeastern Oklahoma and picked up a save in a 9-6 win over St. Edward's Saturday.
The Rambelles will host the ASU Blue & Gold Classic this weekend. The event is currently scheduled for Feb. 12-14, at the ASU Softball Complex.
