SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team has signed pitcher
Sandra Serna, who will join the team for the 2013 softball season.
“We are glad that everything has worked out to allow Sandra to join us this Spring,” head coach
Travis Scott said. “She led Howard Junior College to the National Tournament last season and we are excited to have her join our pitching staff.”
Serna pitched for Howard College last season and led her conference striking out 8.94 batters per game. She struck out 208 hitters in 41 games and held a 2.64 earned run average. The Albuquerque native won 28 games for the Hawks and was selected as an all-region and all-conference pitcher in 2012. Serna helped lead the Hawks to the 2011 and 2012 Region 5 Regional Championships.
“She has the ability to throw strikes at any time, and was able to accumulate a high number of strikeouts last season,” Scott said. “Sandra will complete our team and we are now more loaded heading into the 2013 season.”
While in high school she was a four-time team most valuable player and helped the team to three district championships.
