The two teams traded punts after that before the Rams found the end zone for the first time on the night. Munson ended the game as ASU's leading receiver, catching five passes for 109 yards and the one touchdown. The 109 yards was more than have of Cook's passing total, as the redshirt freshman completed 11 of 18 passes for 167 total yards in the game.
The Ram defense forced another punt from the Lions on their next possession, giving the offense another chance to score. Grant Aschenbeck led the defense in tackles on the night with 13Â and Richard Franklin finished close behind with 11.
ASU went 80 yards again on the ensuing drive, this time using 11 plays to get into the end zone. Running back Trey Green provided the exclamation point for the drive, powering through a defender on a nine-yard rush into the end zone. The score gave the Rams their first lead of the game at 14-7.
Green carried the ball 13 times overall in the game for a total of 56 yards. He finished second in rushing on the team behind Josh Stevens, who had 20 carries for 89 yards.
The ASU defense allowed just three points from the Lions on the next drive, but the offense was unable to score on its next drive. TAMC took over again and was able to score a touchdown and another field goal before the half ended, giving the Lions a 20-14 lead heading into the locker room.
