WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Angelo State women's soccer team lost to Midwestern State 2-0 in Wichita Falls on Sunday.
The Belles (10-5-1, 6-4 LSC) outshot Midwestern State (8-5-2, 5-4 LSC) 10-8 and 5-2 in shots on goal. It is Angelo State's first road loss of the season after starting 5-0.
"We didn't do a good job defending in the opening minutes," Angelo State head soccer coach Travis McCorkle said. "We got better as the game progressed. We have to find ways to be dangerous in attack. Demi Tsambasis had a chance early but couldn't finish it and it was difficult for to find space. We need our other attacking players to step up and cause problems for opposing teams."
Midwestern State took an early lead after a goal from Destinee Williamson in the third minute.
ASU created opportunities in the 11th minute with a pair of corner kicks by Shay Williams. Kathleen Keoughan took one of her two shots but it was saved. Lauren Perry tried to tie the match with a shot in the 26th minute but it was also saved.
Right before the end of the half, Elizabeth Rodriguez sent a shot on goal but it was deflected by MSU's goalkeeper.
