SAN ANGELO – The No. 21 Angelo State softball lost the final two games of its LSC series with Texas Woman's 5-4 in eight innings and 10-7 on Sunday at Mayer Field.
The Rambelles (19-12, 8-8 LSC) left 25 runners on base in the two games and were held to 15 hits. The Pioneers (20-10, 9-3 LSC) scored 14 runs on 26 hits.
"We knew it was going to be a competitive series," Angelo State head softball coach Travis Scott. "The scores dictated that with three one run games. We were two feet away from winning it with a grand slam in game four. We left too many runners on base with opportunities for big innings. We never could get the big hit we needed much like last weekend. We have some work to do and we have a big weekend coming up."
ASU took a 3-0 lead in the third inning of game one. The Rambelles drew five walks and Taegan Kirk hit a two-RBI single to left field after a bases loaded walk by Alexis Evans.
TWU scored two unearned runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game at three in the top half of the fifth inning.
Evans sent a pitch to right field for a double and scored on an error by the TWU third baseman to put ASU up 4-3. Â Â The Pioneers tied it up in the top of the sixth with one run on two hits.

In game two, TWU took a 2-0 lead after the first two innings but the Ramebelles tied it up in the third. Madison Greenwell and Bailey Wallace hits back-to-back singles and after an Evans walk the bases were loaded. Kirk singled to center field to score two.
