Rams Post Triple Digits For Second Straight Home Win

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball program remained undefeated as it put up triple-digits on St. Edwards, 106- 93, Saturday night in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.

With five players notching double-figure points on the night, the Rams improved to 4-0. ASU is now 11-1 over the Hilltoppers. Outscoring SEU 25-4 on the fast break, ASU hit 53.7 percent of its short range shots and an improved 47.4 percent of its three-balls. St. Edwards drops to 4-1 with the loss.

Leading the way for the squad was Ja'Michael Brown with a career high 22 points on the night. He was followed by Will Adler (21), Brandon Williams (19) Daron Mims (16) and Antonio Singleton (14). This also marked season highs for Adler, Williams and Mims. Angelo State spread the ball around recording 18 total assists with Brown leading the way with six to his name. Defensively, it was Williams would headed the team with seven boards, four steals and two blocks.

"We have a lot of respect for St Edward's because the last two times we have played them it's come dow to a one-point game," commented ASU Head Men's Basketball Coach Cinco Boone. "Our staff and players did a good job with the one-day prep time and shoot around we had and it was a good win for us. We still have a long way to go. Everyone can see our talent and the weapons in our repertoire but we need to continue to work on our defense."

SEU struck first as the Hilltoppers opened the game with a 3-pointer. Adler quickly responded nailing a deep shot of his own, as he led the team with five 3-pointers on the night. This would be the first of four time the score would be tied up, before an SEU run at the 16:14 mark would give them the lead for the ensuing two minutes and change.

At the 13:47 mark Singleton brought the game back to an even 19 with a shot from beyond the arch. The two teams would exchange the lead another six times before a final Hilltopper jumper and free throw sent the teams into the break with SEU leading 57-54.

In the second half the Rams would trail, until a Williams layup tied the game at 68 with 14:38 left in the game. After a pair of follow-up shot by Brown from the charity stipe the Rams would take over the lead for the final time of the night. Continuing to build upon its lead with Mims kicking off a 10-2 run rolling in a fast break layup.

Another Adler 3-pointer then gave the Rams its first double-digit lead of the night with 5:24 on the clock. With 2:15 left in the game, the Rams would embark on a 10-3 run to close out the game and push the score into the triple digit range for the second consecutive night. This final run would see shots made by Adler, Mims, Singleton and Brown, who would hit the final shot of the game from the tape.

Angelo State hits the road for a single game against St. Mary's in San Antonio on Tuesday at 7:30p, before returning home for its Thanksgiving Day Tournament. During the tournament the Rams will see Central Baptist on Friday at 7:30p and Lubbock Christian the following day at eth same time.
