Rams Look to Rebound With Home Bout Versus TAMUK

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team will return home to take on Texas A&M – Kingsville in an early week matchup on Tuesday, January 23.

The Rams will get things started at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seeking to bounce back after a road loss to Eastern New Mexico, ASU will enter the game with a 13-5, 5-4 LSC record. The team offense is currently averaging 84.2 points per game and has outscored its opponents by an average of 10.1 points thus far. While, the Rams' defense is averaging 38.3 rebounds and 7.1 steals per game.

The Javelinas will travel to San Angelo with a record 11-8 overall and 4-5 in the LSC. TAMUK will be looking build upon its two game win streak, with recent road wins coming over Western and Eastern New Mexico. The last time the Javelinas and Rams faced off this year, TAMUK downed ASU 76-69 in Kingsville.

Angelo State will be looking to Will Adler, James Kirksey, Brandon Williams, Daron Mims and Antonio Singleton to continue to produce numbers on both sides of the ball.  Adler headed the Rams offense from beyond the arch last week. The junior was 60 percent from deep for the week, and sank a team leading seven 3-balls for a season high 21 points against Western New Mexico. During this game, his contribution allowed the team to set a new 3-point program record as the Rams tallied 17 for the night. In addition, he shot 56.3 percent from the field on his way to averaging 13.5 points for the week. The Kansas native also aided the ASU defense with a team third 10 boards and pocketed a pair of steals.

Kirksey currently sits second on the team in terms of average points scored this season with 11.5. He has also been a major contributor on the defensive side of the ball pulling down a team second 6.2 board per game. He also leads the squad with 28 stolen balls this season. With 11.3 points per game average, Williams has been a force on the offensive side of the ball. However, he has dominated on defense as he leads the team with a 6.3 rebounds per game average. The Houston native is also the team's blocks lead with 28 total on the year.

Mims has been a consistent player for ASU as he has put up 9.6 points per game. He is one of three Rams to have recorded 13 total steal on the season. Singleton is coming off a strong week where he dropped a team leading 35 points as he averaged 17.5 points for the week. Making the most points scored by a Rams this season, He dropped a phenomenal 33 of those points in the Rams game against Eastern New Mexico. This marked the second time this season ASU has had a 30-point scorer.

Continuing to handle the distribution for Angelo State will be Ja'Michael Brown and Kiair Crouch. Bown heads the team with a 13.1 points per game average. He is avenging 3.7 assists per game and is second on the Rams with 18 steals on the season. Crouch has come on strong as of late and has increase his assist per game average to 2.64. He is also hitting 8.3 points per game and has pocketed 11 total steals.

Also providing depth for ASU will be Davion Cole-Johnson and Ran Tut. Cole-Johnson is another Ram that has come on strong as of late. He has averaged 6.8 points over the past two months, hitting 59 percent of his shots from inside the arch. Tut has been a role player on defense and is currently fourth on the squad with 3.4 boards per game.

This game will be broadcasted on RamTV (Suddenlink 106) and 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
