Rams Open Season in California

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University men's basketball team opens its 2019-20 season in California at the Logsdon Classic held in Rohnert Park, California, and hosted by Sonoma State University on Friday, November15 and Saturday, November 16. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. PST, respectively.

Series Info: 
Angelo State and Sonoma State meet for the first time on the court in school history. Sonoma State is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association and claimed its first conference champion title after the 2005-06 season. SSU has made eight National Collegiate Athletic Association appearances in school history. The Seawolves enter the weekend 1-1.
 
ASU and San Francisco State also meet on the court for the first time in program history. The Gators are members of the CCAA as well and made 10 NCAA appearances, making it all the way to the Elite Eight in 1983-84 and the last appearance was in 2016-17. The Gators enter the Ron Logsdon Classic with a 2-0 record.
 
Last Time Out:
The Rams open the season at Sonoma State in the Logsdon Classic Tournament. They played two exhibition games where they defeated the No. 13 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, 81- 66. The Drovers came to the Junell Center after making a national championship run last season and fell in the quarterfinals.
 
The Blue and Gold then traveled to Houston to play the University of Houston in their final preseason game and fell 106-42. Paul Williams and Collin Turner led the Rams scorers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Turner grabbed four rebounds while Williams had seven.
 
Up Next:
Following the games this weekend, the Rams will return to Stephens Arena at the Junell Center to host Lubbock Christian University in the home opener. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
