Rambelles' Offensive Burst Leads to Fireworks Night Win

San Angelo, TX – The Angelo State Rambelles (15-6 overall, 4-3 LSC) emerged the victors in a hard-fought seven inning matchup with the Pioneers of Texas Woman's University with a 5-3 final score. After having their season come to a four game losing skid, the Rambelles were looking to find traction once again, and they would do just that to kick off the series and give Head Coach Travis Scott his 795th career win.

Both teams would have trouble getting out of the gate offensively. Texas Woman's would only have four batters step up to the plate in the top of the first inning, but would see the Rambelle lineup go three up three down in the bottom of the inning. The second inning played out in the same way, but with ASU batting four and the TWU only batting three.

The Pioneers would find the scoreboard first by the way of manufacturing runs through playing small ball with the help of back to back Rambelle errors. Two singles and two errors on bunts later, the Pioneers took the first lead of the game in the top of the third inning, putting the Rambelles in a 2-0 deficit. Angelo State would fight back immediately in the bottom of the third by consecutive singles from Hatty Shope and Courtney Barnhill. Taegan Kirk would reach by a fielder's choice and replace Shope on the bases. With two runners on, Taylor Fogle blasted a triple to right center field to clear the base and even the game up at 2-2. Karina Rocha would then light up the board again with a deep blast over the left center wall that put ASU up two runs.

TWU would once again score on an error and a single, and ASU would once again respond with a run of their own with an RBI single from Taegan Kirk that drove in Hatty Shope. Neither team would score in the sixth, and the Rambelles would hold the Pioneers scoreless in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Taegan Kirk, Taylor Fogle, and Karina Rocha accounted for three of the team's six hits, and drove in all five of the team's runs.

Makayla Corbin would throw a complete game four hit performance in the circle, going all seven innings and holding the Pioneers to just three runs. This was Corbin's seventh win of the season as her record moves to 7-1.
