Rambelles Come up Short in Pitchers' Duel at LSC Tournament

KINGSVILLE, TX – The Angelo State Rambelles fell in their second game of the Lone Star Conference Tournament to the Texas A&M – Commerce Lions by a score of 2-0. Angelo State was facing the Lions after beating West Texas A&M in their previous game on Friday.

It was a pitcher's duel until the bitter end for the Rambelles who would try and counter the Lions' Emily Otto with Makayla Corbin. Corbin's line remains solid despite the loss, giving up only two runs on three hits in her six innings in the circle. She walked five and struck out eight while holding the Lions hitless through 4.2 innings.

Angelo State struggled at the plate against LSC Pitcher of the Year Emily Otto, collecting only two hits and stranding eight runners on the bases. Jade Strother and Karina Rocha were the two that reached base by the way of a hit. The Rambelles struck out nine times while drawing four walks, were hit by a pitch three times, and stole two bases.

As of May 1, the Rambelles occupy the regional eight seed according to the NCAA rankings. They will not receive an automatic bid after dropping out of the conference tournament, but can receive a bid via vote. Sid of the top eight teams in the South Central Region compete in the Lone Star Conference, and five of the top six. Texas A&M – Kingsville still holds the top spot at 41-8 on the season. The Javelinas are followed by Texas A&M – Commerce, Tarleton State, West Texas A&M, Cameron, Colorado Mesa, St. Mary's, and Angelo State in that order.

The selection show will begin on May 6 at 9 a.m. Regional play will start on the ninth and end on the eleventh with super regional play starting on the sixteenth and ending the seventeenth.
