SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State football team has announced a talented group of freshmen joining next season as Head Coach
Jeff Girsch released his recruits for 2021 National Signing Day.
Not only has the incoming class excelled on the football field, they have also performed highly in the classroom, combining for an overall GPA of 3.43 out of high school.
The Rams competed this last fall, playing four games while going 2-2 and picking up wins against West Texas A&M and Division I Abilene Christian.

KASON PHILIPS | RUNNING BACK | 5-9 | FR | STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS | STEPHENVILLE HS
High School: While competing at Stephenville HS, Philips played in 12 games his senior year, rushing for 1,745 yards while setting a school record in touchdowns with 29. He added 23 receptions for 288 yards and caught two touchdowns.

High School: A four-sport athlete at San Saba High School, Glover was named a First-Team All-District wide receiver and defensive back in both his junior and senior seasons. He earned District MVP in basketball, collected First-Team All-District in baseball, and was a regional qualifier in the 4x100, 4x200, and triple jump in track. As a sophomore, he helped his team to a state semifinals appearance.

High School: During his senior season at Bridgeland High school, Wallis collected 69 receptions for 1,156 yards receiving while totaling 11 touchdowns on the year.

CJ LANEHART | TIGHT END | 6-3 | FR | WEST, TEXAS | PARKVIEW CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
High School: Lanehart helped his team to a State Championship during the 2017 season, earning Second-Team All-State. During his senior year, he was named First-Team All-State as a running back and was selected to the FCA Victory Bowl. He rushed for 2,024 yards with 35 total touchdowns while also tallying 70 receptions for 1,155 yards.

TYLER SIMPSON | TIGHT END | 6-5 | FR | BROWNWOOD, TEXAS | BLANKET HS
High School: Simpson finished with 37 touchdowns while at Blanket High School. Last season, he was named Second-Team All-State as a wide receiver while earning the same honor in 2019 as a tight end.

High School: In his senior season at Motley, he earned First-Team All-State as a tight end after collecting 19 touchdowns on the season. He also earned First-Team as a junior, finishing the season with 21 touchdowns. He finished all four years with 13-plus scores in his high school career.

High School: A dual-sport athlete at Midlothian High, Hodges competed in both football and wrestling. As a four-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines, he was named Offensive Lineman of the Year as a senior while also earning Academic All-State and First-Team All-District. Heading into his final year of wrestling, Hodges is ranked No. 1 in the state for 5A heavyweight and was state runner up a season go. As a junior, he earned both a district and regional championship for his weight class.

High School: McFarland found success both on and off the field, finishing his time at Marshall High with a 3.96 GPA.

High School: At Canyon High, Bouloubasis earned First-Team All-Conference his senior year, recording 72 tackles with six sacks while leading the team in tackles for loss, interceptions, and pass deflections.

High School: Ederson finished the season with 90 total tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble, and one field goal block. In 2019, he was named a 6A Honorable Mention recipient as a defensive end.

High School: A three-sport athlete at College Station High, Sampson played football, baseball, and ran track. As a linebacker, he finished with 41 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception, and a defensive touchdown. He earned Second-Team All-District and Academic All-District.

High School: Stowers earned multiple honors for his performance both on and off the field at Prospers High. He warned Second-Team All-District as a linebacker while earned Academic All-District on two occasions. He was also named Academic All-State Honorable Mention.

High School: Competing at George Ranch High School, Woods earned First-Team All-District as a defensive back. He also performed well off the field, earning First-Team All-Academic.
