No. 2 Rams Close Out the Regular Season at Midwestern State

The No. 2 Angelo State football team will look to finish the regular-season undefeated as the Rams travel to Midwestern State for the final Lone Star Conference game of the year this Saturday.
 
 
RAMS CLINCH CONFERENCE TITLE:
With a 22-12 win over Central Washington last weekend, the Rams clinched the outright LSC title for the first time since the 1984 season. Nate Omayebu was the leading rusher in the game with 104 yards while Zach Bronkhorst threw three touchdown passes in the second half.

Last Meeting: Sept. 18, 2021, MSU 35-17
The Mustangs lead the all-time series against the Rams and have won five of the last six meetings. ASU's last victory was in the 2019 season, winning 28-6 at home.
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS:
  • MSU enters the weekend on a three-game win streak, holding a 6-4 overall record while going 5-3 in conference play.
  • The Mustangs have won their last three games by five points or less, defeating Texas A&M – Kingsville most recently 41-37.
  • Midwestern State has the second highest scoring offense in the Lone Star, averaging 31.4 points per game. The Mustangs are also second in rushing yards per game at 197.3.
  • Defensively, MSU is fifth in total defense, allowing 378.2 yards per game.
  • Devin Cross has tallied the third most rushing yards in the conference with 813 on the season along with four touchdowns.
 
FIRST IN SUPER REGION 4:
The Rams remained at the top of the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings for Super Region 4. The selection show is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 CST on ncaa.com.
 
PASSING THE CENTURY MARK:
After rushing for over 100 yards against the Wildcats, Omayebu surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the season, tallying 1,005 yards in 10 games.
 
QUICK HITS:
  • The Rams lead the LSC in both offensive yards (436.7) and yards allowed (206.2).
  • Zach Bronkhorst is first in the Lone Star in passing yards (2,335), and second in passing touchdowns (19).
  • Micah Flowers and Eric Rascoe lead the Rams in tackling with 59 and 57 tackles this season.
