ODESSA, Texas – After being held to only eight shots, the Angelo State women's soccer team dropped their first contest of 2022, losing in Odessa, 2-1 to UT Permian Basin.
The Rambelles unbeaten streak of 10 games ends as the Belles fall to 9-1-1 and 4-1-0 in Lone Star Conference play. UTPB secured their first victory in the LSC schedule, improving to 3-4-1 and 1-4-0 in LSC action.
90 MINUTE RUNDOWN
- In a slow developing first half, the Rambelles scored with their first shot of the game in the 10th minute. Valerie Solis delivered a perfect cross from the right flank which found the head of Reagan Urbany for her fourth goal of the season.
- The Falcons would take the next six shots in the contest, three ended off target, two were saved by Kira Miller, and the last found it's way into the Belles net from about 25 yards out in the 17th minute.
- The teams would battle the rest of the half, with the Falcons registering two more shots before heading to half time knotted 1-1.
- The Falcons outshot the Belles 8-1 in the first frame, and 9-8 in the contest.
- The two teams would continue to battle early in the second half, two yellow cards issued to the Falcons were the first action in the 51st and 56th minutes.
- Grace Jordan would have the Belles best chance of the second half as she broke away in the 61st minute but had her one-on-one opportunity saved by Jenna McEnaney, the Falcons keeper.
- Mia Czarnecki would then fire three shots, two saved by McEnaney while one missed high.
- UTPB would grab the game winner late in the 85th minute after a long ball was redirected in the box.
GAME NOTES
- Reagan Urbany netted her fourth goal of 2022; she now has seven career goals.
- The Belles shutout streak ended at 500 minutes after conceding in the 17th minute of the first half.
- This is the Belles first loss to UTPB since the 2010 season, the Blue and Gold had won the last 13 contests between the two squads.
