RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference announced Angelo State football's 
Andrew Pitts as the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Texas A&M – Kingsville.
 
Pitts, a junior kinesiology major from McKinney, Texas, made a team-high nine tackles – seven solo – with one interception and a half sack to help the nationally-ranked Rams earn a 38-16 road win over the Javelinas.
 
Pitts, who also had a half tackle for loss and a pass break-up, led a unit that held the Javelinas to 267 yards of total offense. The 16 points were the lowest allowed to them all season. Pitts, who returned his interception 18 yards, also helped the Rams win their third straight game.
 
The Rams are back at home this weekend as they welcome in UT Permian Basin on Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 21.
