The 19^th-ranked Angelo State football team returns home this weekend as the Rams welcome UT Permian Basin on Homecoming night at LeGrand Stadium at 1^st Community Credit Union Stadium with kick-off set for 6 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Rams picked up a big road victory over Texas A&M – Kingsville last weekend, defeating the Javelinas 38-16. Quarterback Gerald Gardner tossed three touchdown passes while running for another score while the defense finished with four interceptions in the game.

Last Meeting: Sept. 17, 2022: 34-21, ASU
The Rams have not lost a game in the short history against the Falcons, winning the first six meetings since the 2016 season. ASU is averaging 53.5 points per game against UTPB with the largest margin of victory coming in 2019 at 65-7. The Rams defeated the Falcons on the road last year, winning 34-21.
 
SCOUTING THE FALCONS:

• The Falcons are having their best season in program history, holding a 6-1 overall record while going 4-0 in conference play heading into this weekend.
• UTPB has earned LSC wins over West Texas A&M, the Javelinas, and Midwestern State while defeating Eastern New Mexico in their most recent game 52-29.
• The Falcons hold the second-best scoring offense in Division II with 50.3 points per game and rank fifth in total offense with 494.6 yards per game.
• UTPB ranks second in the Lone Star in both points allowed (20.1) and yards allowed (258.7)
• Falcons' quarterback Kenny Hrncir leads the conference with 1,747 passing yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Rams moved up one spot in the polls, coming in at 19^th in the AFCA Division II Coaches' poll and 18^th in the D2Football.com poll.
 
PITTS EARNS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
After collecting nine total tackles, an interception, and half a sack against the Javelinas, Andrew Pitts was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
 
QUICK HITS:
-The Rams hold the top defense in the Lone Star, allowing only 18.5 points per game and giving up 249.2 yards per game.
-ASU is second in the LSC in scoring offense with 34.3 points per game, averaging 400.3 yards of offense which is also second.
-Zorhan Rideaux is the top receiver in the LSC with 477 receiving yards on 22 receptions with four touchdowns. He is averaging 79.5 yards per game.
-Pitts leads the conference in punt return yards, averaging 19.7 yards per return.
-Josh Booker-Brown leads the LSC in both sacks (3.5) and forced fumbles (3).

OPENING SEASON DUB:
The Rams scored 28 unanswered points against West Alabama to open the season with a 38-14 win over the Tigers.
 
LSC FAVORITES:
After finishing the 2022 LSC season undefeated, the Rams were selected as the favorites to repeat in 2023, earning the top spot in the conference preseason coaches' poll.
