Rambelles Shutout UT Tyler In Final Regular Season Home Contest

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo States women's soccer team recorded its fifth shutout in the last six games with a 2-0 victory over UT Tyler on Military Appreciation Day.

The Rambelles improve to 7-6-4 on the season and 6-2-3 in Lone Star Conference Play. The Patriots fall to 2-4-9 and 0-3-7 in LSC Action.

Angelo State would get the action underway in the first half, As Brianna Rodriguez registered the first shot on goal, forcing a save from UT Tyler keeper Emily Clark. It would be much back and forth until, in the 43rd minute, Shaelyn Ward would set up Allyson Reed where she would get a hold of one from way outside the box to put the Rambelles up 1-0 going into halftime.

In the second half, the contest would become physical, where both teams would pick up yellow cards. Abigail Gutierrez would pick one up in the 47th minute, and Melissa and Maddy Harmon would pick theirs up in the 52 and 56 minutes, respectfully.

In the 54th minute, the Rambelles would get on the score sheet again, with Mariah Griffin having her shot rebound off the goalie to an awaiting Grace Jordan to tap it to give the Rambelles a 2-0 lead.

The Patriot's best chance in the half would come from Alssya Palisi in the 71rst minute when she hit the crossbar to keep the deficit 2-0 with little under 20 minutes remaining.

The Rambelles would outshoot the Patriots 15 to 13, with both teams having seven shots on target.

Amber Lockwood would record seven saves on the day to register her seventh shutout of the year and the team's eighth of the season.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: "Tough match. I don't think we started off that great, I think we got caught up in Military Appreciation. It's a tough team they are very physical. We got a goal with about two and a half minutes left in the first half, that was a huge momentum help for us going into halftime having that goal lead. They opened up in the second half, and I think it worked out with how you would expect, they gave us a chance where Sanai could have had a third goal for the day. We created some good chances. We are starting to peak at the right time, which is good for us now we go up to TWU. We have helped ourselves today in the conference standing. Hopefully, we can do some things and surprise some people in Denton next week."
