SAN ANGELO, Texas – The schedule for the Angelo State football team for the 2023 season has been announced, featuring six home games for the defending Lone Star Conference Champion Rams this fall.
The Rams finished the 2022 season in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Championship for the second year in a row, holding a 12-1 record and holding the seventh overall ranking in the final AFCA Coaches' poll.
Angelo State will be on the road to start the season, facing West Alabama in week one on Thursday, Aug. 31. This will be the first meeting between these programs.
For the second year in a row, the Rams will play a nonconference game against Colorado School of Mines, welcoming the Orediggers in for the first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The Rams begin Lone Star Conference play on the road in week three, traveling to Central Washington on Sept. 16. Other conference road games include Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 20, Texas A&M – Kingsville on Oct. 14 and West Texas A&M on Oct. 28.
In the first LSC game at home, the Rams will take on Western New Mexico on Sept. 23, while hosting Simon Fraser on Oct. 7 and UT Permian Basin on Homecoming on Oct. 21. The Rams close out the regular season with back-to-back home games, facing Midwestern State on Nov. 4 and Western Oregon on senior day on Nov. 11.
