Richardson, Texas – The Lone Star Conference released their annual Scholar-Athlete Award winners this afternoon, with Angelo State football and track and field's
Cason Brown, and Rambelle Soccer's
Kira Miller named the male and female representatives for the ASU athletic department.
Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member institutions. These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship, and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated for at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.
A native of Schulenberg, Texas, Brown was an all-conference standout on the gridiron for the Ram Football Team, as well as being an All-American in the discus throw for the Ram track and field program. Majoring in kinesiology, Brown was named to the LSC All-Academic Team for both sports.
Miller, a product of Frisco, Texas, rewrote the Rambelle soccer record books, becoming the program's all-time leader in saves, wins, and shutouts. The Academic Player of the Year for women's soccer, Miller was a CSC Academic All-District selection and capped her career with her first-ever all-American honor being named to the USC All-American Third Team.
