Rams Rout Javelinas 38-0, Improve to 4-0 in LSC Play

SAN ANGELO, Texas – With a sell-out crowd on Family Weekend, the Angelo State football team put together a dominating performance as the Rams defeated Texas A&M – Kingsville 38-0 at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
 
The Rams extended their win streak over the Javelinas to 11 games as they improved to 4-2 overall and remained undefeated in Lone Star Conference play at 4-0.
 
Xavier Walton blocked a punt midway through the first quarter, setting up a one-yard touchdown run by Braeden Fuller for the first score of the game.
 
Later in the quarter, Andrew Pitts picked off the Javelinas before returning it 38 yards, extending his interception streak to five games. On the next play, Fuller found Kel Williams on a 38-yard score to give the Rams a 14-0 lead.
 
Fuller and Williams connected on another touchdown pass late in the second quarter, scoring from 3 yards out as the Rams took a three-score lead into the break.
 
The Rams collected 342 yards of offense, including a season-high 342 yards through the air while the defense allowed only 182 offensive yards while collecting three turnovers in the game.
 
ASU's defense racked up 11 tackles for loss and six sacks with Stephen Woods bringing down the quarterback twice in the game. Kenton Allen finished with a game-high 12 tackles while Walton finished with six tackles and an interception.
 
ASU kept things going to start the third quarter, going 75 yards before capping off the drive with a nine-yard pass from Fuller to Hunter Wallis for the score.
 
Fuller finished the game with a career-high 332 yards and four touchdown passes on 18-of-33 passing while Zeek Freeman and Kyle Bradford finished with 65 and 61 receiving yards respectively.
 
Midway through the third quarter, Fuller threw his fourth touchdown pass of the night, finding Donny Bishop on a 40-yard completion. Bishop finished with four catches and 59 receiving yards while scoring the first touchdown of his career.
 
Bradley Larson closed out the scoring in the fourth, converting on a 24-yard field goal attempt to bring the game to its final score.
 
The Rams continue conference play on the road next weekend, traveling to Midwestern State on Saturday, Oct. 19.
