SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 20 Angelo State baseball team completed the series sweep of Oklahoma Christian in convincing fashion with a 15-1 victory on a cool Sunday afternoon within the confines of Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the win, the Rams go to a 17-8 (16-8 LSC) record on the season while the Eagles fall to 3-19 (3-17 LSC).
After a scoreless inning and a half, the Rams struck first in the bottom of the second with five runs crossing the plate highlighted by back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles from
Jacob Guerrero,
Tripp Clark and
Tayten Tredaway. The Blue and Gold batted around in the ensuing inning as
Conagher Sands,
Justin Harris, Guerrero, Clark and Tredaway each provided RBI base hits.
On the mound,
Seth Foster followed
Austin Teel in the second inning and allowed an earned run off a hit and two walks while striking out two in three innings of work. His efforts earned him his second pitching victory of the season.
The fourth inning saw more scoring by the Rams in some unconventional methods as they did not record a hit but instead: drew three walks, were hit by a pitch and took advantage of three errors committed by the Eagles to score four runs to bring the game to its final score of 15-1.
The Rams will continue Lone Star Conference play on the road as they will travel to San Antonio to begin a four-game series against St. Mary's beginning on Friday, Mar. 15.
