Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team's 2023-24 season came to an end on Saturday night at the hands of West Texas A&M, as the hosts of the regional won 81-66 over the Rams inside the First United Bank Center.
The Rams fell behind early but managed to fight back, even holding as much as a four-point lead at the six-minute mark in the first half. The Rams were on fire from deep early, making their first six attempts from three. However, the turning point proved to be a 15-2 run for the region's top seed for the last 4:15 of the first half.
On the game, the Rams shot 43.2 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from three.
The Buffs took control of the game at the free throw line, making 26 of their 30 attempts; conversely, the Rams went 18-of-25 from the charity stripe.
Keyshawn Embery-Simpson led the Rams with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 shooting from three.
Willie Guy added in 16 points and led the Rams with five rebounds in his final game for the Blue and Gold.
Kevon Godwin scored ten points on 3-of-7 shooting in his final game for ASU. He finishes his ASU career with 1,140 points, seventh-most in program history.

DJ Basey had six and four points, respectively, in their final collegiate outing.
The Rams end the season with a 19-11 record.
