SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team defeated UTD 2-0 in the first-ever matchup between the two teams Wednesday night inside the LeGrand Soccer Complex.
With the victory, the Rambelles move to 9-3-4 overall and 8-2-2 in Lone Star Conference action.
The Rambelles came out firing in the first half, recording four shots within the first four minutes, and three of them were saved by UT Dallas's keeper McKenzie Hunninghake.
Right before halftime, a through ball from

Sanai Stewart. Stewart would cut in and send it to the goal, where the UT Dallas goalkeeper would get a hand on it, but it would not be enough with
Sanai Stewart giving the Rambelles a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

In the 88th minute, the Rambelles would have nice build-up play in the middle of the pitch, when
Lexi Gonzales sent a through ball through the middle of the field. Thames would gather the ball, bouncing off five defenders and being able to find the back of the net to give the Rambelles another 2-0 victory.
The Rambelles recorded 20 shots, with nine being on target, compared to the five shots of UTD, with only two being on target.

From
Travis McCorkle: Q: It's another 2-0 win that we are accustomed to this year. The offense looked, probably, the best they have been all year. What has been different in practice? A: The energy has been different. At halftime, I talked about Whitni, Sanai, and Ashlyn. They were just causing a lot of problems out wide for UTD. Midfield did their part. The defense I have to give them their props. UTD went down really easily, so I have to give credit to the team as a whole for their defense. Q: With only two games left in the year and after this victory, what is your confidence that you are going to be able to host a tournament game? A: It does give us a lot of confidence, but we have a long drive, and we are playing against one of the teams with the most unique style in the conference, in my opinion, so that is gonna be a challenge for us. If we have this focus and this toughness, it's going to take us as far as we want to go.
