Eric Rascoe Selected Sixth Overall by Calgary Stampeders in CFL Canadian Draft

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada – Former Angelo State standout linebacker Eric Rascoe was selected sixth overall by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2026 CFL Draft on Tuesday.

A native of San Antonio, Rascoe began his collegiate career as a defensive back before transitioning to linebacker in 2022. He appeared in 48 games over five seasons in the Blue and Gold, earning First Team All-Lone Star Conference honors three times. Rascoe totaled 225 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five interceptions and 18 pass breakups during his career.

His top season came in 2024, when he recorded 55 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions. He earned first-team All-Lone Star Conference honors, along with D2CCA All-Region and AP All-American recognition.

"I am so excited for Eric and proud of all he has accomplished," head coach Jeff Girsch said. "Calgary is getting one of the best to ever put on the Angelo State football uniform. A great leader who will bring energy and excitement to the Stampeders."

Rascoe joins a Calgary defense that ranked second in the CFL in scoring defense last season, allowing 22.2 points per game. The Stampeders finished 11-7 in 2025, placing third in the West Division before falling in the Western Semi-Final.
