No. 18 Rambelles Down No. 21 UT Tyler to Advance to LSC Championship Game

Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State softball team advances to the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship game after defeating rivals UT Tyler 3-1 this afternoon at Schaeffer Park in the LSC Semifinals.

Tomorrow's championship game appearance is the first for the Rambelles since 2021. The Rambelles are seeking their first conference tournament title since 2018.

The Patriots struck first with a one-out solo home run in the opening frame.

Kylie Forney led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to tie the game.

Zoey Sifuentes followed with a walk before she would score the go-ahead run on an Abby Brand two-out triple later in the inning.

Forney led the sixth inning off by being hit by a pitch, and Sifuentes followed with a single before both runners moved into scoring position. Forney would tack on an insurance run after scoring on Ashleigh Dendas' sacrifice fly.

Maddison Ruiz went the distance inside the circle, allowing five hits, four walks, and one run while striking out five Patriots. Ruiz collected her 16th win of the season and her second of the weekend.

The Rambelles improve to 45-12 on the season and will play the winner of West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Kingsville tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the championship game.
